Emperor's Silk is a bright pure red like the silk lining of a jacket. It is also the red of Chinese lacquer, especially when deepened with Black Chalk Paint® Wax. Use it in the interior of a cupboard or drawer for a pop of colour.
1 litre is enough to cover approximately 13 square metres (140 square feet). After painting, seal indoor furniture with Chalk Paint® Wax. On floors, seal with Chalk Paint® Lacquer.
Please note that paint colours will vary depending on screen settings. We cannot guarantee that paint colours will exactly match the colour you see on screen. If you are in doubt, please order a Colour Card or sample pot first.
Chalk Paint® is the brand name for Annie’s unique water-based decorative paint. It is a non-toxic and virtually odour-free paint that has minimal volatile organic compounds (VOCs) at 0.13% VOC (EU limit value for this product (cat. a): 30g/l (2010)).

Developed by Annie Sloan specifically for furniture, it can be applied to most surfaces and very rarely requires any priming or sanding before painting.
You can use it on walls, floors, wood, concrete, metal, matt plastic, earthenware, brick, stone and more – inside or outside. You can even use it to paint upholstery and dye fabric.
Non-toxic and perfectly safe for children’s furniture and walls. Further to this, samples of Chalk Paint®, Wall Paint and Chalk Paint® Wax have been independently tested and certified as Toy Safe according to strict European regulations (BS EN 71-3:2013).
We advise that for things that children might put in their mouths, the wax should be allowed to cure for 5 – 21 days to ensure that it has hardened completely.
Both Chalk Paint® and Wall Paint are water-based paints and not flammable. They are not, however, classified as fire retardant paints (BS 476). They are safe for use on fire surrounds, radiators and hearths.
While we know that Chalk Paint® and Wall Paint can potentially last for several years when stored carefully, once the paint leaves the shop we have no idea how or where it will be stored. We recommend using paint within one year of purchase.
